Interesting...
11th June 2008

Yesterday evening CABT had a visitor (referred from a popular social networking site), who sent the following message:

"To Whom it may concern,

The director of British Telecom has brought this website to my attention,

I write with reference to the denegration of the company this website goes on about.

This is off the records and strictly confidential, but I must warn that any comments left on this website that are of an inappropriate nature to British Telecom with be delt with by myself and my Socitor Firm, of which files have already been compiled and legeslation has been found to prove the owner of this site guilty of breaking peace, and denegration.
I suggest that you reads the comments that have been published already and you rephrase some of them, or remove them completly.
Complaining about a company is not breaking the law its just the mannor that it is done in.

You may not quote anything in this comment to youself and I request that you do not repeat any of it on your website. You may take this to your own solicitor who you feel may represent you in court.

A reply would be appriciated before action may be taken.

Regards

************"

I don't know about you but it seems quite strange to me that a person (presumably claiming to be a solicitor), should quote a hotmail account as a reply e-mail address.

Furthermore, I am not aware of any denegration [spelt: denigration], which this site is 'going on about'. To my mind this site is sounding board for the general public to voice their opinions about a service being received, and is one of a huge number of such sites to be found around the internet.

Also, BT have always been fully aware of my details (all of them), and have been invited to contact me regarding the site and my complaint. The site has been brought directly to the attention of their press office and their 'high level complaints' team. Suffice to say that I have still not had an answer to my complaint, which you might imagine would come before any notice of this kind.

It is also fair to point out that BT have been invited (on 142 occasions to date), to review the complaints on this site and make comment. To date, no responses have been received and we have received no contact asking us to correct factual inaccuracies, or to remove any comments from the site.

Oh, and also I think it is fair to point out that the visitor completed a glowing survey on the company and is of the opinion that BT provide an excellent service. Once one survey was completed, they attempted another. Surely it is not fair for anyone involved in this 'action' to contribute towards the content of the offending site.

The visitor in question has been invited to respond to this note and any comment received will happily be published here.

The BT Chairman's office has also been informed and invited to comment on the issue.
